Double Fatal Accident Kills Sheriff's Deputy

An accident has claimed the life of two people, one of which is Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy Galen Herren.

The accident happened around 9:00pm Saturday, December 3, on I-590. Police say that Deputy Herren was on his way to work, when the driver of the second car was traveling in the wrong direction, and hit Mr. Herren's car head on.

Both Herren and the other driver died. The name of the second driver has not yet been released.

Police are investigating the accident.
