Father And Son Injured In Crash With Guardrail

January 13, 2006

A Floyd man and his son were injured when their vehicle went off Route 49 near Rome and struck a guard rail.

Oneida County sheriff's deputy C.C. Haynes said David D. Calandra, 58, of Floyd was driving west with his son, Derek, 23, as a passenger when David Calandra lost control of his 1964 Chevrolet Corvette because of a mechanical failure. The vehicle went across the passing lane and hit a guard rail. David Calandra's back was injured and Derek Calandra's head and shoulder were injured. They were taken for treatment to Rome Memorial Hospital.
