A 28-year-old Ballston Lake man was pronounced dead on Monday after being involved in a pair of traffic accidents on Route 146.
The Saratoga County Sheriff's Department said Francis Perreault of 5B Russell Oaks was traveling west at 7:50 p.m. near Vosburgh Road when he went off the eastbound shoulder.
The car overturned four times and Perreault was thrown from the car.
The driver was treated at the scene by the Clifton Park Halfmoon Ambulance and transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Troy where he was pronounced dead.
The preliminary police investigation said Perreault's speed was too fast for the road conditions.
The Sheriff's Department said the driver was involved in another incident at the intersection of Route 146 and Pruyn Hill just minutes before the fatal crash. Deputies said Perreault sideswiped another vehicle while passing in a no-passing zone and kept driving.
The investigation into both incidents is continuing. An autopsy will be performed.
Clifton Park Halfmoon Fire Department, Hillcrest Fire Department and Waterford-Halfmoon Fire Department all assisted at the scene. Route 146 was closed to traffic for approximately two hours while police investigated.
