Nyc Police Cruiser Involved In Deadly Accident

A pedestrian walking across a Harlem street was struck and killed on November 18, by a NYPD patrol car responding to help officers chasing a teen with a gun.

The accident happened at the intersection of West 115th Street and Fredrick Douglas Boulevard just before 1:30 a.m. when 31-year-old pedestrian was hit by the patrol car traveling northbound.

The injured person was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital and pronounced dead.

The officers in the patrol car were also taken to St. Luke's Hospital for evaluation.

The officers calling for backup were on foot, chasing three armed suspects at the intersection of West 123rd Street and Lenox Avenue.

Police tell that one 18-year-old man was taken into custody in front of 157 West 123 Street following the foot pursuit.

An officer involved in the pursuit suffered injuries during struggle with the teen and was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center for treatment.

Charges against the teen are pending.
