Officer Identified In Crash That Killed Biker

January 4, 2006

Nine days after a deadly accident, the Cicero Police Department said that Officer John Baldini hit and killed a bicyclist.

Back on August 20th, Richard Luffman, 77 was riding his bike along Route 11 when he was hit by Baldini's police cruiser and killed. The Cicero Police Department says Baldini was responding to a call when he hit Luffman.

The department says it is common practice in the emergency response field for personnel who have been involved in a traumatic event to be debriefed.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident as an accident and Officer Baldini is on administrative leave.
