Peekskill Police Seek Driver In Hit And Run

January 19, 2006

Police are seeking the public's help in locating the driver of a small black car that struck and seriously injured a Peekskill woman Saturday night, October 22, on Washington Street.

Rona Vesce, 57, was leaving the Capri 2 restaurant around 11 p.m. with her husband and was crossing the street to go to their car when she was hit, police said.

Detective Sergeant Mark O'Buck said that when Mrs. Vesce was hit, she was thrown into the air, then hit a parked car before landing on the pavement. In his opinion, the car's right front side may have been damaged from the impact.

She was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, where she was admitted for treatment for fractures to her leg and pelvis area and various cuts and abrasions.

The driver could face a felony charge of leaving the scene of a serious personal injury accident, police said.
