An 18-year-old driver who allegedly caused a fatal crash in December has been charged with DWI after a second crash on Friday night.
Bedford Police say Ralph Tarchine III was intoxicated and speeding when he crashed his parents' Saab into a utility pole on Middle Patent Road.
Tarchine was pinned under the vehicle after it rolled several times. A passenger was ejected but survived with injuries.
In that crash, Tarchine was driving an SUV when he failed to close down for a curve on Route 22 near Captain Theale Road. The crash killed 18-year old Michael Plunkett.
Bedford police say the second crash happened while they were still building a case against Tarchine for the first crash.
Police said that charges stemming from the December 10 crash have been delayed because laboratory tests to confirm drugs in Tarchine's blood are not complete.
Tarchine is hospitalized recovering from the Friday crash. Police expect to charge him for the December crash before the week is out.
