Biker Almost Loses Foot In Hit And Run

Springettsbury Township Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that almost cost a Windsor Township man his foot.

Leann Rill and her husband, Eric were riding a motorcycle just after midnight Saturday, September 24 ,on Route 30 at 11th Avenue when a westbound car turned in front of them.

After the accident Eric Rill realized that his foot was completely backwards. He was transported to York Hospital, where doctors performed emergency surgery. He was then flown to Hershey Medical Center, where he had another operation.

A third operation is scheduled for Wednesday, September 28, Leann Rill said.

Police Lieutenant Scott Laird of Springettsbury Township said that according to witnesses, the car initially stopped at the scene but then left.

It was described as red or maroon, but a bumper with a blue plastic covering was recovered at the scene.
