Dog Bites Men, Investigation Ongoing

February 28, 2006

Blooming Grove police said that a pit bull named Gemini attacked two men yesterday and send them to a local hospital with bites to their hands and legs.

Terrell Robinson, of Central Valley, and Ronald Kingly, of Washingtonville, both 21, told police that they were visiting a friend on Kennedy Drive when Gemini, unprovoked, started to get aggressive and attack them while they were inside the house, officials said.

Both men were taken to the Cornwall campus of St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, police said.

The dog's owner, 16-year-old Alex Castineiras, was not home at the time, police said. Gemini, and eight of her four-week-old puppies, were taken into custody by Blooming Grove Animal Control officers.

Animal control officials said the investigation is continuing. No criminal charges have yet been filed, police said.
