Motorcyclist Injured When Car Backs Into Bike

January 13, 2006

A motorcyclist was injured in a motor vehicle accident on Blossvale Road in Taberg, said sheriff's deputy D.P. LaPlante of the Oneida County sheriff's Camden field office. John W. Zimmer, 54, of McConnellsville Road was traveling south on Blossvale Road on a Harley Davison when Dale H. Perrigo, 24, of Slater Road in Taberg backed out of a driveway in front of Zimmer, LaPlante said.

Zimmer was unable to avoid the car and struck the passenger side of the vehicle, LaPlante said. Zimmer was thrown from the motorcycle, treated at the scene for cuts and possible broken bones and taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, LaPlante said. Perrigo was charged with unsafe backing. He is to return to Annsville Town Court at a later date.
